Four Steps Along Minimalism’s Wide Path

Today’s post is a first in a series of guest posts from authors in our quest to find some regular authors for The Minimalist Path. Please let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

Todays is written by Gip Plaster from the blog www.GipPlaster.com.

I’ve realized something important in the year or so that I’ve been reading so-called minimalist blogs: I’m one of you.

For a long time, I hesitated to call myself a minimalist. I’ve always been interested in simplicity — even when I wasn’t living a simple life. And I’ve always been interested in frugality — even when I was eating out almost every night. When I first started learning about voluntary simplicity and frugal living, no one called it minimalism.

Some minimalists I’ve seen on the Internet lead lives very different from mine. They’re 20-something men running along island beaches in white t-shirts, khaki shorts and “barefoot” shoes toward extended stay hotel rooms containing only a small backpack, two other white t-shirts and a pair of black shorts — for variety. Welcome To The Updated Minimalist Path Site

This blog post is for a couple of reasons.

First of all, I wanted to welcome you to the updated TheMinimalistPath.com. I just wanted to thank you for stopping by and let you know that it is your support that keeps us going. You will notice a few changes to the design and layout here and these are just the beginning.

We have decided to move TheMinimalistPath from an information site, to more of a blog style with regular updates, interviews, reviews and more. We will also be starting to introduce some different forms of media to the site including video and audio and interacting with you more on social media sites, like our brand new facebook page so stay tuned for some great new things over the next little while.

The second is me, Rick. I have come on board here at TheMinimalistPath to help out with this new direction and grow the site to what it can be. I will reveal more about myself over the next few weeks but I can assure you, you will be hearing a lot more from me.

That is about it for today, so welcome and look forward to your company over the coming months as we grow together.

Talk Soon!
