Review: Living the Simpler Life

The simplifying community has grown by leaps and bounds. To think, only 7 months ago I started The Minimalist Path and see the response is tremendous. However, I am not the only one. From the wise veteran minimalist in Leo Babauta of Zen to Done to the rapidly fast growing Everett Bogue of The Art of Being Minimalist, simplifying one’s life has seen plenty of great, useful content being provided to the many of us looking to simplify your life. Earlier this week, Sam Spurlin of the simpler life released his first eBook entitled Living the Simpler Life and it is packed with loads of applicable information.

I started connecting with Spurlin about 6 months ago and have since faithfully followed his growth at the simpler life. Sam is different than most of the other simplifying writers out there for the sole reason that he is attempting to follow his calling in becoming a teacher. Most minimalist writers are looking to find a way to “survive” and spread their thoughts while not conforming to society’s call to work for another person. Spurlin, though I am sure would love to be self-employed, is living the life of many more than other minimalist writers. This is one of the reasons his words through Living the Simpler Life will resonate through you if you decide to pick up a copy.

In Living the Simpler Life, Spurlin does a much better job than I do of sticking to the premise of simplifying and it’s causes and effects. I tend to stray into my own life example, while Sam focuses on the essential life aspects we tend to ignore. My favorite part of LTSL is the Make Progress Now steps. Similar to my action steps in PROJECT M-31, Spurlin’s Make Progress Now steps provide an action by which you will start simplifying your life in a feasible way. I know it can be tough and daunting to jump into a world of simplistic life, so these steps are great jumping off points for anyone of any current simplistic stage.

So…You are probably asking yourself, “Why exactly should I get Living the Simple Life?” That’s a legitimate question. The reason you should get a copy of LTSL is because it will help you focus on aspects of life that you may not have realized were chaotic. LTSL will help you make a “Mental RAM dump” (from the eBook) and start fresh with new focus on fewer things with greater relevance to your goals.

I hope you all consider supporting the great work provided by Sam Spurlin. It will definitely help each of you in different ways that Leo, Everett, or I probably have not pointed out and for that alone I think it is a great buy.
