15 Questions for Self Reflection

(Article under 400 words)

“Learning without reflection is a waste, reflection without learning is dangerous.” – Confucius

To often, here at The Minimalist Path, I focus on myself. I rant and rave about how well or poorly I am doing with my life. That isn’t all bad, but I would love to help you more than myself. I get more satisfaction from the success others have from my guidance, than my own success. With that, I’d like you to see what you can do today through self-reflection.

Human self-reflection is the capacity of humans to exercise introspection and the willingness to learn more about their fundamental nature, purpose and essence (via Wikipedia). Finding our purpose in life is something many of us rarely do. For one reason or another, we get lost in the chaos that society poses on us and we tend to forget the purpose to our actions. By self-reflecting, we can find the meaning to what we do daily. Most of our actions should have a reasoning behind them that facilitates our progress to our goals.

The reason I am asking you to self reflect today is so that you can start focusing on the life you want. The path of minimalism is my way of re-focusing others to achieve the things they dream of. Through daily self-reflection and living a simple life, anyone can have the lifestyle they choose no matter what the obstacles that are presented. I am living proof.

The following 15 questions will help you realize if you are doing what’s necessary to remain on the path you desire the most…

  1. Do I really need this or want this?
  2. What am I doing today that will help me achieve a goal tomorrow?
  3. Why did I act in this positive/negative way yesterday?
  4. What can I do to improve my mood everyday?
  5. Do I love what I am doing daily?
  6. Who am I listening to and why? (i.e. friends, co-workers, family, neighbors)

  • You wrote "The following 10 questions" but, in fact, there are 15!
  • I like this - "What can I do to improve my mood everyday?"

I'm regularly thinking that I'm at the mercy of my mood, but really, our moods are at OUR mercy when we take some responsibility for them and actively focus on changing them for the better.

    Thanks for the brain-food!
