The RCTHINK / TMP Challenge PLUS Please Donate

Forewarning: I filmed this at midnight, so I am kind of boring and loser-like (HAHA) in the video plus my camera sucks….more on that at the bottom…

Click here to check out the RCThink challenge and to see more about how you can participate.

This is where I am going to beg (slightly) for your help.

I really want to start getting into more video blogging. To do so, I need an updated camera. So I am asking any and everyone that has thoroughly enjoyed (or even slightly enjoyed) The Minimalist Path and LifeExcursion to make a small donation (or big one if you want) to this new tool. If I can get a $1.00 donation from 155 of you faithful followers, I will be able to purchase this and start giving great video blogs that will continue to help all of you enjoy life to the max. Sure, donations larger than $1 will get me to my goal faster (which means videos sooner), but even a $1 will help. And if I reach my goal, I will give 10 free pre-release copies of the up-coming PROJECT M-31 (coming mid-February – trust me, it’ll be worth more than a $1) to random people who donated (chosen through Random.org). PLUS, I will mention all blogs (PG-rated blogs of course) of those who donated any amount here at The Minimalist Path or LifeExcursion in a Thank You article if this is successful. If I do not reach this goal, any donations made will be put towards site updates (NOT MY POCKET) to provide even better service to my awesome community.

One thing I promise is that the videos I make with this new tool will be much better than my boring one above.

You can donate any amount through the PayPal button below which is safe and secure. Trust me! I use PayPal A LOT. It is safe.

Thanks for all your help and consideration folks! I will keep you updated on the donation totals.

    Hello, David.

I’d be delighted to donate to your most worthy cause. when I clicked the “donate” button, your email address did not show up. What would be your email address to make the donation through pay pal.

Ditto the above. It appears that your donate button takes you to the generic login page for Paypal and doesn’t carry over your email address. I even tried to log in first and hit it again…not working.

    Hey Dave,

Nice idea for a 30-day-cleanup-marathon! I was thinking of doing some equal sort of thing by a “5-thing challange”. But I’ll skip that for now and join you guys.

I’ve (somewhat) translated the idea to dutch and placed it on my site.

    Grtz!

Nice one! Donated! Part of the deal of me donating is that you have to do a review of the Flip. I’m not sure if I want one or not.

SORRY EVERYBODY….As Ross found out, the DONATE button is fixed. I feel like an idiot that I didn’t have it working the first time around.

P.S. Ross, I definitely will do a review.

    Hi David,

I’ve started a blog. Would you show me how to put a link in a comments section (as Ross of rcthink has done above) that will direct readers to my first post titled “From Pack Rat to Minimalist One Moment at a Time?”

    Thanks David (a/k/a Blog Mentor)

Why do more video blogging? I understand that some things can be done in video that can’t be done in text, but I have bandwidth issues and usually skip videos in the blogs I read — especially if they consist only of someone saying what they could have written down. I’d much rather read your words than hear them; it’s faster, I can save them to re-read later, and it’s easier to return to something you said a couple of paragraphs earlier. Plus the bandwidth issues: my ISP has a monthly cap. If you do start adding video to your blogs, please include a transcript of your words as well; I’m sure I’m not the only one who’d appreciate it.

Done. BTW, I have the same model MINO, and while I like the compact nature, I\’m not sure you\’ll get a better picture out of it. I\’m no videographer but the videos seem a bit dark that I take. – Charley

    Hey Carol—

I understand your concern. What I want to do is provide the most to my readers and viewers. I will still continue to do 75% writing and implement 25% video. I will do everything I can to provide the info in videos to the writings as well.

I promise to stick with what has worked while adding this new feature. The reason I want to implement is because I love video blogs. If not enough demand is there (aka support through donations) I will know my readers aren’t interested and will address accordingly.

Thanks for your comments and thoughts….much appreciated

I’ve been trying to convince myself to start decluttering for months now, but I have an infant, we’re not in our normal living situation right now, work is insanely busy, and I obviously have infinite excuses. I think this challenge is simple enough to get me doing something, but big enough that it will make a difference. I’m aiming for one item at home and one at work every day. Hopefully by the end of the 30 days I’ll be ready to tackle even more!

    Thanks for challenging us!

    hey Elisha…

Key thing here in your statement is…..BUT…and….I obviously have infinite excuses.

I am not saying that there aren’t reasons it has been tough to become minimalistic. I am just saying we all could change if we really wanted to. For example, how much tv do you watch a day? I am solely assuming you do watch some tv a day. How much more would your life benefit by taking 10 minutes of tv time and simplifying something that saves 10 more minutes everyday?

I don’t have kids or a mortgage so people tend to claim I don’t understand. The thing is, I do. That is why I chose my minimalist life and implemented in every way possible.

If I can help or motivate in any way, let me know Elisha
